Big GB entry list for the women in Glasgow for this week - far too many to list, pretty well everyone that has been playing British Tour plus some higher ranked players as well.

I'll try and update and edit the top page this evening. ITF withdrawal is not untill Tues afternoon, so no point adding these until Wed.

Good news is Eleanor Dean has entered and will surely get a MD wildcard on the back of her British Tour results.

Big week for Naomi, who is down to play the Midland 100k, as defending champion, defending her biggest ever weekly ranking points(140). Unless she gets a decent result here, or previously at the AO, she will be outside the top 100, with a strong chance of no longer automatically qualifying for direct acceptance to the Slams.

Hopefully, she can improve on last year, and win the doubles as well.

Until the next run of the ITF National rankings, Eleanor is well down the entry list, and is going to need the WC - which she deserves at the moment

ITF added
As normal everybody seems to start their season around this week and the tournaments are loaded.

Lisa W has withdrawn from Glasgow following her recent injury, Lauryn John-Baptiste and Alicia Barnett are now in qualifying. 7 of the top 10 alts are British, so there should be some more in qualifying in due course.

It's a bit sad that Katie Swan is now the only GB girl in the main draw automatically. Don't forget Katie is struggling with back spasms and may or may not be fit enough to compete.

Katy Dunne is 1 out from the main draw now(and lapping it up on the plane after being upgraded) - Emily Appleton should make the qualifying draw assuming she is not too tired after her Aus Open junior exploits.

Yes the Glasgow women direct main draw contingent may be small, so might be a pity for spectators, though there will of course be WCs and hopefully some qualifiers. But basically these immediately above Katie Swan in the GB rankings, ie #5 to #11 ( other than Harriet who hasn't surfaced this year ) are elsewhere and at higher rated events - Katy D, Freya and Katie B down under ( this particular week a 60K ) and Laura, Mandy and Gabi at a France 25K.

In the latest ITF update, Emily Appleton is up to 3rd alt for qualifying for the Australia 60K.

Though I guess she wouldn't mind reaching the very final stages in the Aussie Open Juniors making that problematic.

Swan and Whybourn have both withdrawn from Glasgow. No one from this this country in the main draw.
