Strongest Nation?

Yay, Fran up 56, Lily up 26, Marni up 22 and our top 10 as a whole up 93.

Was a very welcome last week of the month for our women and their 1830 total is their best since September last year.

Hopefully Fran can now make a good defence of her WTA 250 Bogota SF points (110) from last year.

It was end of AO that the Russians took top womens spot, if I recall - I see the US are gathering the troops again, eg Danielle Collins, Emma Nabarro. Wonder if they could close the gap down again by end of the summer?

Well done GB! Presumably weve never been as high as 8th before?

They were certainly 8th in late 2022 and early 2023 up to 20th March. Might be equal highest.

Good stuff nonetheless. Out of interest, do you keep a record ?

Yes, though I haven't got GB placings, just our totals, for the earlier ones.

Won't be 8th for long I imagine with Dan's points coming off

Well we are 43 ahead of Russia in the 15/04 totals and although Dan indeed drops 180 points this week his current live ranking of 65 is "just" a 16 place drop. And after Barcelona he didn't win another clay court season match last year.

Players further down the rankings have the potential for much bigger ranking place movements and our #10 Arthur say already has a live ranking currently up 11 places with his ATP Challenger R1 win.
