Big year coming for Tara. She needs to build up some points/wins/confidence over the next 5 months to get ready for that juggernaut of points to defend during the grass season. Could all start with a bang in Hong Kong.
R1: (1) Tara Moore WR 162 beat Akiko Omae (JPN) WR 232 (CH 222 in April 2012) 6-3 6-2
Good looking win. And that in spite of Tara still having DF issues with 8 DFs in 9 service games, 8 in 22 second serves, no doubt 'aiding' her in being broken 3 times. Would be great if she could get on top of that sometime soon, especially given how well she has otherwise often been playing.
R2: (1) Tara Moore WR 162 vs Kyoka Okamura (JPN) WR 264 (CH 223 in May 2016)
Edit : ah, so many folk around at 4 am

Tara & Conny are due to play their R1 doubles after rest, which Conny might appreciate. Her three set singles including two tiebreaks took 4 hours ( she was still playing at the proposed not before 6 am GMT ).
Edit: Ah, I see they have now just begun.

That shoud see Tara climb to a new CH ranking at around WR154, depending on when the rankings are updated.
Assuming we still have the week's delay for updating 15Ks and 25Ks, these points will update on 16/01 when Tara has 12 points coming off so only a net 6 point gain so far, and looking more likely to be then around the WR 160 mark ( her current CH ). Might as well keep winning then.
After these 12 points though she only has a further 33 points from 5 counting tournaments due off before her grass court points start coming off in June. So if not ultimately as a result of this week a new CH, indeed one in time maybe quite well within the top 150, is hopefully coming fairly soon.
