Week 1 - ATP 250 - Brisbane, Australia (hard)

L32:  Kyle Edmund WR 45 (CH = 40 in October) vs Qualifier

He faces Lucas Pouille (6) or Gilles Simon if he wins that one...

Saw Kyle hitting today down at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Brisbane. He looked very relaxed and comfortable.

Here's hoping he has a good week!

Looks like it:  they met in the L64 & Kyle won by 5, 4 & 4.  More of the same in Brisbane wouldn't go amiss! wink

Great timing. Just woke up to check the score and find the match in a 2nd set breaker.

Kyle was 2-5 down but came back to take it, and with it, he also took the match 7-6(4) 7-6(6)

Up and running Kedders.

Not a Brit result, but I see that young Alex de Minaur, who I was raving about from the tournament in Murcia (Spain) a couple of years ago (he went on to beat Billy Harris in the SF that week), has made it through qualies, as a WC, and into the MD. En route, he has beaten Kukushkin and Tiafoe. De Minaur is still only 17.

Watched De Minaur beat Kukushkin. Alex wanted it more and his backhand is very steady. Fantastic footwork for such a young professional...really impressive. Watched Tiafoes QR1 win over Whittington and Francis played very well so that is a fantastic couple of results for Alex. He is based in Spain according to my coach....

Watched the first four games today of Kyle's match. Kyle looked short of match practice which is not surprising as first match of the season...pleased he got through in the end. He will need to up his game to get past his R2 opponent.
