I see that the LTA are seeking sponsorship for their main events now that AEGON have stopped their sponsorship.
Will be interesting to see if they have others knocking on the door. Based on other sports corporate sponsorship is becoming harder and harder to find.
Surely the profile of tennis in this country has improved since Aegon signed that deal, with the Davis Cup, Andy's 2nd wimbledon etc. Hopefully they can secure a better deal. The removal of Aegon should hopefully mean they can support my corporate tennis event. The NGB of Badminton have been so kind to allow my corporate badminton finals to be played at their All England Masters competition, the tennis equivalent of the LTA agreeing to host my finals at Wimbledon!
On another point I would love to see their expenditure based on the savings they have made from performance funding, hosting futures, reducing £100k-£25k Aegon Team Tennis prize money. All I have seen in terms of increased expense is the Davis Cup Legacy coaching, the Davis Cup trophy tour and their first tv advert/marketing campaign in summer.
I read in the business news somewhere that they are not expecting to find an umbrella sponsor to replace Aegon but instead are pursuing individual sponsorships for different sections of their activities.
