Danielle Daley has done very well in recent ITF juniors - in a good run of form.

Do you think? She's barely won a singles match, failed to make it out of qualis most times, just racked up a lot of points in doubles playing with Destinee Martins, which is an astute choice of partner and obviously helps.

No Danielle hasn't really had the results in singles but I think it unfair to suggest the dubs success is largely due to Destinee - Danielle really is a good dubs player in her own right.  I saw her play quite recently having not seen her for 6-8 months or so and I was very impressed by the progress she had made so I'm sure singles success can't be too far away.

I'm sure you're right, The O - you know much more about it than I do.
But it obviously looks advantageous for an unranked player/then lowly ranked player to join forces with a top 500 player.
Indeed, I was hoping that it would be advantageous in many ways for both of them - not just point grabbing. The two girls seem to have paired up on tour (or their parents have an understanding or whatever). And that's got to be good for both - Destinee to have a friend/playing partner when they were playing in North Africa etc., given her sister seems to have stopped, and Danielle to experience both her end of the draw and raise her game, being in close proximity to Destinee. Alice is no muppet on a court so it's a very good victory for Danielle and, as you say, singles success is obviously/hopefully coming.

Congrats to Taro (who's off to the Netherlands, I think, this evening, to play an ITF).

FINAL:

Taro Keens def. Danielle Daley 6-3 6-3

Add: although Taro hasn't turned up in qualis in Holland so probably decided it was all too much of a rush

First time I ever saw Beth play it was at Paddington, if I remember right. Some four years ago maybe.

Think she was on the one far-flung court, right by the entrance that nobody could see. And the organiser was getting in a tizz because she was running late and all the matches were dragging on. And one of the players was getting a bit antsy. And as it all got rather heated, I decided to do my civic bit and chipped in, pointing out that Beth's match was only in the first set but looked like it was going to be over in fifteen minutes, max. Which calmed things down, and proved true.
It was more of a comment on her opponent, really, than Beth, but I didn't think she'd still be playing Paddington British Tour four years later..... :(

I think it is a more of a warm-up tournament - both Beth and Em are listed for Madrid on 18th September, along with a few other Brits - 2 MD and 5 Q + 1 Alt. But withdrawal deadline for that one is tomorrow.
