Well, well, well. Some changes in the entry list here. Ten of the girls were on the alts list, and there is no sign of Laura S, Eva, Lauryn (all of whom should have been promoted into the main draw), Olivia N, Eleanor, Hannah M, Naomi & Jodie L T all of whom were in the qualifying section. More wild cards ?
It is surprising to see so many Byes, the entry lists for GB $10Ks is usually pretty full.
Yes. I don't know about specific cases but it always seems such a shame to have BYEs in a local event, especially when players are supposedly crying out for these events.
If you are on the qualifying list, you don't have to turn up and sign in.
Olivia may just be playing doubles again. Eleanor may have got the final WC, Hannah Mc is in qualifying
I thought the rule was you didn't have to sign in for the main draw, but HAD to sign in for qualifying, or you were out and subject to penalties.
I must admit I missed Hannah when I went through the list, Olivia may well have made the main draw as next highest ranked, and it is about time Eleanor got a wild card.
You are correct, although if a player contacts the referee before sign-in closes they may be excused penalties, particularly if illness is the cause, as this gives the ref a chance to accept other on-site sign-ins.
Is there a relevance to the two being born in 2001?
Regarding sign it etc, what an absolute fiasco ITF sign ins are. People have to travel to the venue the day before an event to sign their name, for what? If you tell on tennis people that you need to do this they think you are mad! There must be a better way in 2016 with all the technology we have.
I don't know actually having someone come in person means they are there and ready to play.
If everyone was reliable and did what they said they will do fine but I don't think that's the case and the organisers want to see the whites of the players eyes, the alternative is being mucked around horrendously and potentially having no tournament on the day.

As Indy says, there's no specific relevance to them being age 14 or 15 as in they don't get extra points or it counts towards LTA matrices or anything like that (as far as I know).
But again, as Indy says, it seems relevant to know the age of the player if they are particularly young (or particularly old).
Simply putting 'UNR' doesn't seem to be telling the whole story if it treats a 23 year-old like a 14 year-old.
Regarding sign-in, I think the current system is quite practical for lower level tournaments. MD players don't have to sign-in the day before, just turn up on the day in time for their matches. If they don't (and invariably some don't), LLs can be promoted from the qualifying draw and a full draw of players can be given a chance to play. If people don't turn up for the Q draw (even more common than a no show in the MD), then there would just be a half empty draw if sign-in were just before the matches. Making people turn up the evening before means local players can turn up on spec and take any empty places in the Q draw. If they don't get in at the end of sign in, they know they aren't going to and can go home. If they do, they can prepare properly for their matches the next day. Quite a few girls in the Q draw would not be there without this system.
