R1: DUNNE, Katy (GBR) 325 v HOZUMI, Eri (JPN) 6 195 CH=144 2014

H2H 0-5

Australian Open Junior 2012 6-3 6-7(6) 3-6

Brisbane 2015 0-6 1-6

Toowoomba 2015 1-6 4-6

Brisbane 2016 0-6 3-6

Katy won the 1st set she ever played against Eri and has since lost ten sets in a row. It's about time Katy broke this run and won at least one set.

Oh no. Worst draw for Katy. She's out there with a coach this year so hopefully he'll have a game plan for how to win.

I think her coach may well have been there at Toowoomba, and possibly Brisbane as well.

My heart sank when I saw that draw, but by all accounts, Hozumi was really on fire in Brisbane a month ago and since then, their form has gone in opposite directions - Eri 3-3, Katy 7-3 (11-3 including Melbourne AMT, where 3 of the 4 wins were against players good enough to makes 25K and 50K main draws)

Katy ends an 11-set losing streak against Hozumi to take her into a decider, though she is a break down in the 3rd - 2-6 6-4 *2-4

She was actually a break down in the 2nd set too - twice - and a double break down in the 3rd at 0-3*, so there is plenty of battling going on.

Hozumi wins again but by far the best scoreline Katy has ever managed against her in their 5 senior meetings.

L32: Katy Dunne lost to (6) Eri Hozumi (JPN) WR 199 (CH 144 in 2014) by 6-2 4-6 6-4
