Week 43 - ITF ($10K) - Loughborough, UK Hard

I would like Alicia to win because she needs a chance to get her third counter. And she plays well.

But I really like Bronte Murgett when she played at Roehampton and took apart Georgie Walker.

A small, very canny lefty - plays smart tennis, lovely angles - nice to watch.

well done to Eden. She looked a bit rusty at the NTC - not really playing her level. Nice to see her get a good win here.

So Alice gets the last wildcard which is nice.

And Laura S gets in as a LL, which is also nice.

But looks like it's Lisa W who's withdrawn ????

Which is not so nice....

Alicia will be playing Eden for a place in R2 and a ranking. Hannah also has two counters so just needs one more.

Well done Eden, Lauryn and Mollie - all good wins

The other results were pretty much as I expected.

Lisa W tweeted that she was unwell a couple of days ago.

I thought Lauryn v Eleanor would be the pick and I'm not surprised that Lauryn won. I think she has a very solid all round game and could easily get into the 600-800 ran!IMG if she played more regularly.

As for the first round ties:
Kimberley Zimmerman is over ranked and prefers clay. I saw her comfortably beaten by Lauryn at Wirral, so Hannah must have a great chance of getting that third counter.
I can see Lauryn beating Beth again.
Emma should be too strong for Vic.
Alicia v Eden will be interesting and good to see one of the two will get a ranking.

I've no idea which Maia will turn up. She will either go deep or struggle early on.

No joy for Eliz, Alice or Hannah, all beaten convincingly in straight sets.

Lauryn and Beth having a very close match - gone to a first set tie-break which Beth takes.
