Good - Katy needs the points to get back into the top 300 and to do that she needs back up counters greater than 1.

Asia Muhammed has a lot of points to defend from last year's Australia swing (over 100), but hasn't had a lot of success this year (apart from a run to the SF last week, where she lost in 3 sets to Dalma Galfi) - so I rate Katy's chances against her

Katy and Mana also into the semis of the doubles (by walkover)

By the time I realised Katy's match must have started, she was *1-4 down (having lost 3 games in a row) but she then won 5 of the next 6 games and served for the set, only to get broken again. So the 1st set has gone into a tiebreak, in which she has just gone 1-3* down.

Katy gets the mini-break back, wins her next two service points, then breaks again 5-3*

... and again - 3 set points, the first 2 on serve! ... 2 ... got it

So, Katy has come from 1-4 down in the set and a mini-break down in the tiebreak to win it 7-4

Well 7-6(4) 3-6 2-6 in case anyone thinks Steven was in dreamland. She clearly revived when he got on board, but looks as if he may have deserted. Probably try and say that well it was the middle of the night

Tough one certainly, but as the addict suggested one that looked maybe doable.

Pity, but 5 more points on top of last week's great haul.

Yes, I inadvertently 'deserted' her, though I was only keeping half an eye on the scores in the first place. Katy actually went an early break up in the 2nd (2-0) but was 2-4 down by the time I left the screen for a phone call - I'd meant to go back and check what had happened afterwards but fell asleep instead. At least she added some more points this week but she certainly hasn't been getting kind draws, though with last week's top seed out of form, that turned out to be a better draw than it appeared at first sight.

As long as she wins the matches she 'should' win (and the odd one that she 'shouldn't'), that's all you can really ask, and she has been doing that this month.

Anyway, time to go off and bungee jump Katy. Someone took leave of their senses once and did their one and only bungee jump just outside Cairns

The 'helpers' at the top may have found it rather amusing that small talk revealed I worked in life assurance, but it's really safe, Katy.
