It wouldn't surprise me if the LTA have largely forgotten that a Fed Cup captain still needs to be appointed.

Bally =( She had so much heart and always played her best at the Fed Cup. A perfect captain. RIP

Anne Keothavong has been named the Fed Cup captain.

Great choice if you ask me!

No, unless they make a change for 2017.

So who will Anne be choosing ?

Jo, Heather, Tara and one of Joss or Anna would be my best guess. Joss probably more likely if fit.

I much prefer to have at least three singles players for a Fed Cup week and they are all very capable doubles players.

I think Laura is best served away from this and the above are currently our best three singles players ( likely to be available ) anyway.

Katie Swan too has had Fed Cup experience but can skip this one although could go as a reserve.

I'm pleased to see Anne chosen as Fed Cup captain - she has relatively recent experience of playing at this level of Fed Cup and getting out of the group (to the WGII playoff at least) which will help.

Finallly we have a captain ! Great choice. Good to hear Jo's words, which makes it highly likely she'll be playing next year. Jo and Hev are dead certs, anyone's guess who the other two will be.

Perhaps Anne could persuade Naomi to come in from the cold, she is after all our number 3 singles and number 1 doubles player.

I don't think she should receive wildcards on the basis of being British if she is not prepared to represent her country.

Sorry I disagree with your comment Naomi has come up the rankings with little help from the LTA She was just a young kid when there was the incident with the LTA. Any wild card she receives is deserved

i disagee.

Naomi's stand is a principled one, in particular against the LTA. From the detail that I do know I have long though that she / her family have made an absolute mountain out of what could have been a comparative long forgotten molehill wherever blame lay ( and it has hardly helped her career ) but I do accept her issue is with the LTA and that should not effect WCs, particularly where like for Wimbledon the LTA has direct involvement. They have played fair with her in that regard.

I do wish she would reconsider, but it's gone on a very long time with no sign of turning.

Naomi won't play for GB without her Dad's approval and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Anyway I thought about going, but is a bit of a mare to get to. Only direct flights are from Stanstead via Ryanair a couple of times a week.
