It didn't happen because Liu was involved in a doubles semi-final in Guangzhou this evening. I'm not entirely sure why she wasn't replaced, though I imagine she would have been if she and her partner had won that semi-final (they didn't) but it seems a bit unfair on Hev, who'll have to place twice in one day if she wins against a FQR opponent who got QR1 out of the way today.

It's pretty harsh on players playing the previous week to have a Friday start but if you are going to start on Friday you would think anyone left in another tournament would have to withdraw from this one. Niculescu had to withdraw for the same reason, which allowed Crawford to get her match in against an alternate.

Heather blitzed the 1st set 6-1 only to get bagelled in the 2nd - it's now 3-2* in the decider.
