Week 38 - France F19 ($25,000+H) - Plaisir (Hard - indoor)


QR1: Sizya Kivanda UNR v Maxence Bertimon (FRA) UNR, age 16

QR1: (q12) Jonny Gray WR 1286 v Nino Portales (FRA) WR 1594 (CH 1343 a year ago)*

QR1: George Davies WR 1881 v Crisanto Ramirez (USA) UNR, age 29

 

Nino lost to Ben Davis in Sunderland earlier this year.

Sizya won in straight sets, Jonny into a third set.

Kivanda did well as he was a break down for a lot of the second set but the youngster doesn't have a very high domestic ranking (although he looks as though he'll go up a grade come October when the new rankings come out).

Jonny was also a break down in the third, got it back to 4-4 and then 5-5 but got broken at the last. Shame. Nino has a reasonable-ish domestic ranking but hasn't had a great year (will probably go down a notch).
Just to note, for interest's sake, Bertimon has played 76 competitive matches this year and Nino has played 54. I wonder how that compares with the British players.
