Any information on the Merovingian, CD? (Clothilde - however it is spelled - is one of those names that I can't quite separate from its history)

Clothilde is from Corsica, and very proudly so ! Not sure she cares too much about old Frankish dynasties, although I might be wrong
Although she's WR 839 or so now, her CH is WR 276 from a year ago (she's still only 21). But has barely won a match this year - don't know what's been going on.....
NB Mirabelle's opponent is the college girl who beat both Mirabelle and Suzy last week......

Not an easy draw for either Brits. Mirabelle's opponent beat Suzy last week and eventually lost in the SF despite being a qualifier and unranked. No previous but can obviously play a bit.
Suzy's Merovingian opponent had a rough 12 months up to Aug (injury ??), hence the low ranking, but was SF last time out. Had previously won a quite a few 10k titles, so no mug.
All in all could have been a lot better draw - no easy points here.

It's worse than that - James, a decent US college player, beat Mirabelle herself in straight sets in R1 last week as well as beating Suzy in the QFs. So much for the early round 'protection' of being 4th seed last week and 2nd seed this week
