Laura #13 on the MD list; be great if she could follow up her 25k title (and getting through USO qualies) with a good run here :)

Decent showing in the second set, especially after the first.

Hmm. Don't know what happened to Elbaba that day, but she's better than that.

I think it'll be much closer this time, but Julia must have a few scars after that one, not a bad draw overall either, don't want to look too far ahead but Townsend in the semis would be great to see.

I'll be really happy if she can start where she left off. She's not playing until Wednesday it seems.

Yep, a very decent draw for Laura with, if she wins her R1, a likely R2 against the 6th seed Gonzalez PAR ranked 150. GL Laura :)

Their last match in the final is recorded on YouTube, and I'm sure the background research will make far more pleasant viewing for Laura than for Julia.
I expect it to be a fair bit closer this time, but the first few games will be key as if Laura can stamp her authority early on her opponent might well start thinking back to the previous match.

Gonzalez did really well at the US open as well, in fact she made to round 2 where she lost to Pliskova and stretched her to 7-5 in a set, so that will be very tricky assuming nothing untoward happens today.
