Interesting tweet from Abel Rincon, who is in Georgia coaching Dan and James.  Apparently they all played 2 matches in one day and Dan's opponent had won his earlier match 7-5  6-7(4) 7-6(5) in .... wait for it ..... 4 hours and 50 minutes.  He is wondering if that is a record for a futures match.

He commented that the guy could hardly walk when he played Dan.

I saw a game at Shrewsbury of a similar length between two girls from Italy last year.

For those who follow the Irish players a bit, young Simon Carr (age 16 i.e. very young) in now ATP WR 1699, and has just made it into the MD in the singles, beating compatriot Pete Bothwell, WR 1367 (as well as losing his doubles, see above)

Simon is the son of some footballer, I believe, and quit school at 15 to devote his time and energy to becoming a top pro tennis player.

There was quite an interesting article about him earlier in the year:

Not ideal, of course, but not that high a ranked top seed and Dan would never have been in qualifying if he had entered normally, indeed he would have been close to having been seeded in the main draw. Net, net just a bit over 200 difference in rankings.

I know & God alone knows how, but I've somehow kept my counsel, but Indy's use of it - contagion! - was the straw that broke this particular camel's back! evileye
