Week 30 - Challenger ($50,000) - Kentucky Bank Tennis Ch., Lexington, KY (USA) - Hard

Thanks for compiling that. UTR strikes me as a better descriptor than predictor. What's so exciting about Mr Edmund is that he's rapidly improving in ways that suggest that he could go to a level of, say, slam seeding in the not-too-distant future. While performances thus far may have been similar, that feels less likely with Mr Evans. But it's interesting to see the 'snapshot' comparison.

Thanks Steven for all that GB #2 info re Evo. My '"another era" really wasn't too long ago and he was #2 for much longer than I recalled.

I guess it's good that in this case rather less time has passed than I realised. The worry is usually the other way.

In all the GB no. 2 excitement I don't think it's been mentioned that Lloyd sealed the win 3 and 2 and will next play Escobedo, who dumped out 4th seed Thompson 4 and 5. Has to be seen as a big opportunity to make a semi

Brydan has lost the first set 4-6

Great to see Lloyd beginning to replace the ITF points from last year with Challenger points from this.

It's the first time he's got points to defend.

And interesting that his ranking after one full year turned out to be exactly what was predicted by the pro-rata rating last October or so.

Mike C's brilliant commentary telling that us that Brydan has 'masterfully' managed to deliberately get inside Tiafoe's head and throw him.

Brydan takes the second set 6-3

brydan played well to break and take a *3-2 lead in the third

But then, in his own words: "I've just choked the match"

as he played a poor game and Frances broke right back.

Today's fact is that Escobedo was Ryan Stormie's hitting partner when he was based in the USA.

Escobedo hits a huge ball, and is on a steep upward curve, service breaks won't be in plentiful supply, still Lloyd is playing well, so fingers crossed.

The day session has been moved indoors due to rain, but they are hoping to play the night session outdoors. Liam is scheduled to be last match of the day

I knew I shouldn't have posted that. Sorry Liam.

Three BH errors and a DF give the 1st set to Baker 6-4. Have to say that Baker has given nothing away and is serving very well. Up until that last game it was a really good quality match.
