Week 29 - ATP 500 - Citi Open, Washington, DC (hard)

L64:  Dan Evans WR 73 (= CH) vs Benjamin Becker (GER) WR 96 (CH = 35 in October 2014)

I hope Dan's recovering well from his shoulder injury...

I can't help wondering if Dan's shoulder injury was a rather convenient excuse to get out of a Davis Cup tie on clay.

Have to confess that that thought crossed my mind, too.  Not sure he'd have fared much better against Lajovic than Dino did, either.

I am quite happy he missed DC either way. He needs to be stepping up to 250 events and 500 events now and this tournament could be important to set him up for the next couple of months and get points on the board.

Becker will be a pretty good opponent, I'd have thought. Even Dimitrov in the next round is winnable.

Good to see the skupskis here, 90points and £10k between them if they can get through the first round!

Decent draw for Dan too

How many rounds of qualies are there ?  I see there is only 1 qualifying spot in the MD against Peya and Kubot.

It's on Sky as well, looking better in an hours time, but that wind was something else.

TennisLive still saying 'Rain Delay'. Doubt they've got a 'Wind Delay' notification at hand...
