Weeks 26 & 27 - Wimbledon 2016 (incl. Andy) (grass)

Queens finalists repeating in Wimbledon, 1971, 1982 and 1988. In two of the three the result was reversed (Smith vs Newcombe in 71 and Becker vs Edberg in 88) while in 82 Connors beat McEnroe twice. So not a brilliant omen.

So great to come home in time to see Andy and Heather both have excellent wins. (I had 2 windows open so was able to watch both !!). And I think this Sunday is actually the first Sunday for years that I have been home to watch the final. I'm usually struggling on a laptop with a poor connection somewhere.

The way Andy is playing at the moment there really is no way he should lose to Raonic. The latter has had his moments this week but he has also dropped 2 sets to Goffin, a set to Querrey and 2 sets to a Federer that is well, well past his best. Andy has the return of serve and movement to expose the limitations in Raonic's game.

With his game of course Milos has a good chance. However would be pretty disappointed if Andy didn't do it. 5 setter then 4 setter then 5 setter will have been physically tough for Milos, plus will surely be mentally draining coming through the Federer match and then having to cope with playing his first slam final....but I've been wrong before :/

Milos deserves his place in the final for sure; and it isn't going to be easy for sure. But Andy has the Queens final to draw on; plus the knowledge that it ain't Nole or Fed the other side of the net. That brings a different type of pressure of course but the way he swatted Berdych aside gives great hope for a good outcome tomorrow. Go, Andy :)

Whilst I thought Andy played very well in his semi, I thought Berdych was very poor. Raonic will provide a much sterner test although I still expect Andy to come out on top. Let's hope so anyway.

I enter the ballot every year and dont usually get anything, then last year I got centre court tickets for the 1st Thursday. I worked out that Murray was due to play that day and took my 9 year old son only to be twarted when they gave Murray court 1 that day. We did the outside courts, saw Andy win from the hill, went in to centre to see Fed win but as Dustin started to take Nadal apart.....my son announced he was getting bored and can we go now. I tried to explain what was happening but he's such a big Murray fan it had all been a bit much for him so we left. Outside though we walked past the Skupski's playing doubles, ended up sitting 1st row right behind where the players sit and my son thought it was magic (as the sound of the days breaking story wafted down over the walls of centre court which we were in the shadow of!) And my son was right, it had been a "magic" day.

Much to my surprise I came out of the ballot again this year (like buses) only with Centre Court tickets for mens final day.....wow! I could ill afford the £350, especially if the final was a Cilic/Nishikori affair but, it was a once time opportunity I felt I couldn't turn down.

As my son watched Murray first round we reminised about last year. You can only imagine his face when I put the tickets under his nose! We have now had two weeks of agony watching Andy get through. Durng the Tsonga match he was through clenched fingers and even behind the sofa unable to watch at times. I am excited for tomorrow but more relived than anything else. Just like last year its going to be a "magic" day   smile

Dear Shhh

Are you really just trying to make us all insanely jealous

Seriously though, I hope you and your son have a fantastic time and that you get the opportunity to see Andy lift the trophy. Tell him to cheer loudly for all the rest of us on this forum.

If it's as blustery in SW19 tomorrow as it is in N12 today, the wind's going to play havoc with the players' ball toss... hmm

I think it's Andy in 4. But Raonic is dangerous if he doesn't freeze on the day. His tennis against Fed at the end of the match was very special. I suspect though that he will have a bit of a dip after that match.

I'm not sure if there's a separate thread, but I can't find it; so...........
HUGE congrats to Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett who won the wheelchair doubles!
What a brilliant (if rather tense!) match.

Andy's got history in wind, good history.

That said, when you're favourite you are probably happy for variables to be taken out of the equation, other than he no doubt doesn't want the roof.
