This week Fran J has been given a WC into the main draw but considering there were only 2 Q matches played altogether, not sure that means much! Of more importance, Fran needs one more win to gain a ranking, but has not got the easiest of draws here.

Fran is also in the doubles again this week, and needs 1 more win here too for a ranking. She is already into the QFs here, as are most pairs as there is only one R1 match.
Bah! Who are these charlatans? Stephens? Ivanovic? They both got freebie 10 pointers for entering Prem Mandatory doubles and losing in R1. All Fran's points have been earned.

Big step up for Fran Jones and lost the first five games. Has just held serve though, and got to deuce in the previous game, so she may be finding her feet.
Better in the second set from Fran, but a steep learning curve. She won 3 BPs in set two, but failed to hold her serve at all that set, which she did once in the first set.
