Weeks 21 & 22 - French Open 2016 (inc. Andy) (clay)

Nicely filled the tank up with petrol, whilst others used quite alot, looks good again, what a difference a day makes.

Great to see Andy execute his game plan; tried and tested format against the big fellas. Another days rest then big Izzie and he should be nicely set for the QF's

Loved the lob, inch perfect! 9 ft 6 (6ft11 + 3ft7) high and almost hit the baseline... Beautiful!

The story behind those God-awful shirts JWT, Berd-brain, Alexander Zverev, Dominic Thiem &, apparently, Ana Ivanovic & Simona Halep are all wearing this fortnight, courtesy of yesterday's Times:

Stars dazzle in striped kit

Players contracted to adidas might look like zebras in their black-and-white outfits at Roland-Garros, but their kits, designed by Yohji Yamamoto, were inspired by dazzle camouflage from the 1940s and 50s.  [All the players mentioned] won while wearing the outfits yesterday.

Camouflage?  Flamin' distracting eyesores, if you ask me, & as bad as anything Stan or Dino (the Ted Baker numbers) wore last year!  Thiem vs Zverev on Suzanne-Lenglen is proving very hard to watch at the moment...

Ana Ivanovic looks great in it, more women tennis players should aspire to be like that.

So somebody finally took the bait (though my views remain as published, so I wasn't playing devil's advocate, just, er, stirrin' it...).   And she lost in straight sets earlier today, as Kristina Mladenevic looks also likely to do! wink

The tradition and crap of Wimbledon sums up tennis in this country. Elitist farts from the home counties. I love the Zebras.

What a bitter and unpleasant comment!  There must be some grudge we don't know about there.

Wimbledons great though, change is as good as a rest. Throughly enjoy seeing the players smarten up a bit once a year. Being a member of an inner city tennis club, gutted that I got diddly squat in the ballot but very excited for some of the people going who don't really fit the definition of Home Counties old farts.

Neither did the coach load of 55 kids from the Birmingham over spill comprehensive I went to that used to go down from school every first Thursday year on year. One of the few sporting events at which you see a mixture of men women and children.

Interestingly my kids love the zebras

Typical of the man, I'm afraid, KK.  I doubt he even needs the excuse of a grudge! cry
