Harriet surely can't expect a better 25k draw than someone who is 25 and never been better ranked than 649 in the world?
I mean, she well may lose, she did last time, and she's just flown over, but that's not the fault of the draw, that's her.
Freya's is a little more unknown - but 2008 is a LONG time ago to be top 200, and she only played a couple of events last year.
CD - read the Optimist's post. The girl has only just come out of Uni, so doesn't have a full ranking. Her university record in doubles is excellent. Harriet should normally win, but it may be a lot tougher than it looks. I'm sure Harriet planned to get there a little earlier, but she was unexpectedly still playing in Turkey on Saturday.
What I said is that if, like Harriet, you are unseeded then you could get (and would - overall - expect to get) a lot worse than Beatrice in a 25k. And that, as such, it can't be a 'bad' draw. Nor for Freya either.
No youngster ( aged 25 ), even if recently graduated, Beatrice has played 13 ITFs over the last year in a mixture of 10Ks, 15Ks and 25Ks, and picked up 32 points from 8 counters. So played quite a bit although yes would no doubt be ranked higher with a fuller program.
In an overall weak 25K clearly Harriet could have found easier ( and harder ), but as a general 25K opponent, and without looking at her wins and losses in detail, I'd say she really looks a pretty decent R1 draw. I reckon she'd be struggling to make the MD in many 25Ks.

Indiana is correct. The red line shows that this is the only $25K in which WR 649 would have made MD as a DE, out of an assorted 25 held so far around the world - including the one in Uzbekistan which you might suppose would be even weaker.
