She's only won 9 points so far.... Either she's not well/ injured or she's playing a stinker of a match/ opponent whose game matches up badly with hers.

Possibly all of the above - Tara - who is one of my picks for this year - is consistently inconsistent.
Doesn't look good luck so far with the draw, but hopefully will pick up ...
R1: (4) Tara Moore & Conny Perrin (SUI) CR 304 (158+146) vs Gabriela Ce & Andrea Gamiz (BRA/VEN) CR 279 (109+170)
Their opponents' CR has risen in a week from 431 to 279 following their run to the final in the WTA International in Bogota last week. Maybe not greatest field, but losing to Maria & Arruabarrena just on a MTB in the final looks pretty impressive. Of course, Tara & Conny have their own not quite so recent WTA International RU spot from Sao Paulo in February.

Going equally swimmingly in set 2. Just missed a first MP in game 7, but still plenty chances. Acclimatising from Bogotá to steamy Alabama in a couple of days can't be easy for the opposition. 6-2 *5-2
3 more match points at *40-15... Nae problem!
6-2 6-2

Although I commented adversely on the draw, as ISF said, it was probably a pretty tough turnaround for the opposition, but last week remains a very good week for them to look back on.
Now let's have at least one more win to add another counter for Tara to what has been a steadily ( and at the time of their WTA final, big ) increasing total.

Team Taco live on the USTA stream now, and it should be available for catch up for at least a week. *0-1
As they wrap up the first set, I have this ambivalence... Tara was the best player in that set by a huge distance. She is also the best doubles player. She looks in decent shape. The raw ability is undiminished. The groundstrokes are low, hard and flat; the forehand particularly effective, scored at least eight cleanly ripped winners. She has good energy and looked focused and just a good quality player. The serve is a problem still, it is being abbreviated in a strange manner which affects accuracy and reliability, but it has decent penetration when it works. Also, because she can do so much on court, she sometimes is trying to do too much. Several times trying to scamper a long way backwards around a ball to hit a fade away inside out forehand. In those sorts of moments, Tara seemed a bit flashy, and most player wouldn't attempt it because they wouldn't have the thought. Or the potential to execute it. So, it's a bit perplexing to fathom why none of this equates to much better still at singles. I suppose we'd have to see singles Tara for a useful comparison. Hope though, because she surely can't be this fundamentally sound with out something good coming from it soon, surely? Taco are a good team, Tara picking Conny up after some flubs, and Conny's generally strong serve is a good platform for Tara to maraud all over the net killing off points. 6-3
PS: Set 2 will probably tell a completely different tale now!
