At this level, any draw would be tough for Katie, but out of the possible seeds, Davis has to be one of the better choices. I'd personally expect whoever wins from Duque Marino/Crawford to qualify.

Agree that Naomi has a good shot at qualifying, though Sasnovich may not be easy to beat.

Naomi has to be strong favourite on a hard court against a player she beat on clay!

Playing Lauren Davis will be a good barometer of where Katie is - Davis is a very consistent performer but usually at the lower end of the top 100. Therefore how far away Katie is from beating her, will be a guide to how far she is from being a tour level quality layer. If she pulls of the upset, it will take a great performance from her as Davis is unlikely to throw in a terrible performance.

Decent draw for Heather, albeit with a shocking H2H and an OK draw for Laura too.

H2Hs with Cetkovska when the Czech was at her best presumably so maybe Heather can redress it by half here :)
Toughies for Laura and Katie
Fingers crossed Naomi can rediscover her Auckland/Malaysian mojo...

Did I miss the reason why Heather was given a wildcard, given that she could have easily gotten in as a DA. Did she register late or something?

I think at the time of the original cut off for entry Heather was actually too low in the rankings for DA although only by a few spots.  Her subsequent success in Mexico has propelled her back up the rankings and so hopefully it won't be an issue in future.

Heather's regarded as a local, I think, with Bradenton one of her bases

Katie is understandably nervous hence the double faults.Hope she calms down and serves more aces.
