Ms Whybourn is doing brilliantly well, but her schedule does feel relentless with all the qualifying. Good luck to her, and hope that she can soon get to the point where she has a few more days off.
This is her last week in Aus.I'm sure she will have a break, but I wonder what her plans will be. A trip to Egypt to pick up some easy points and then back on 25k qualifying?
I think both points are valid.
It has been a very long block of back to back tournaments. This will be her seventh consecutive week.
She's played 25 matches so far, 20 singles, 5 doubles - in a way she's lucky she hasn't won any doubles matches at all yet on this trip!
Not including the 10,700 mile, 25 hour journey out, there's also a lot of travelling despite events doubling in some locations for a second week.
It's probably about 3,800 miles of travelling within Australia
[Launceston to Perth: 1,800 miles, 6 hours (direct flight); Perth to Port Pirie: 1,300 miles, 5 hours (direct flight); Port Pirie to Mildura: 300 miles, 5 hours (overland); Mildura to Canberra: 400 miles, 3 hours (direct flight)]
That all adds up to a heavy toll, from any angle.
However, its not as though ladies plying their trade on the ITF are currently spoiled for choice; which applies doubly so if you are looking to a level above $10K.
So, this arduous schedule is probably a worthwhile investment given the alternatives - South/Central America, as with Tara, or scratch around in various European $10K's.
I'd expect, and hope, a good rest is in order after next week! Maybe at least 3 or 4 weeks.
There's a good sequence of $25K, and higher, European events starting on 25th April, with a choice between Germany or Switzerland, which all leads quite nicely to to the Eastbourne $50K at the end of May.
This could be the next target for someone of Lisa's talent, ranking and ambition.
