Yep, here's hoping Katie can add to her points tally this week :)
Thankfully she's in the section of the qseed #3 ranked 1024 rather than the top 2 qseeds who presumably just showed up for the sign-in ranked 312 and 419 which would've been unfortunate; saying that, fingers crossed 15 years old Gracheva isn't the next wunderkind!

Had a funny feeling that was a potential banana skin; hopefully Q3 will be somewhat easier...

Not so sure.....isn't Miss Boulter's opponent the young lady Maia thumped in Glasgow?

True enough, but her ranking and the fact she has 8 10k titles mean that she doesn't get thumped like that very often.

She certainly does in any WTA match she's in!

Her titles are mainly in reasonably weak $10Ks...so she's a decent draw for a seed.

That Glasgow match, which I sat and watched, was a bit weird. Maia was very consistent, which is all she really needed to be against an on the day long, wide and pretty hapless Al Nabhani. Did look very much less than fully focussed and quite clearly must be able to play much better than that. If she doesn't Katie should thump her too.

Assuming though that she plays much more to her capabilities, it looks a rather tougher but still very winnable match for Katie.
