Week 7 - UK F3 ($10,000) - Shrewsbury (hard) - indoor

Lots of GB players in the main draw - Liam, Dan C, Dan S, Ed C, Lloyd, Luke, Dave Rice, Neil P, Joe S

Wildcards likely to go to Marzi, JWH, Josh Paris, Jay Clarke unless I've missed someone

Not easy to see the qualifying draw, but 9.30 start - but Harry Meehan v Ewan Moore looks the pick of the opening matches.

I'm tempted to go down Monday....

Alex Jhun may well have got a wildcard - he's on the acceptance list, next Brit after Marzi, but doesn't seem to be in the Q draw.

Wonder if Luke Oakley is injured after his exploits of last week. (Wouldn't really think that he's got a wildcard but I guess it's just possible, which would be nice....)

Quite noteworthy that there are (at my count) 14 juniors in those matches. Out of 28 GB players. Don't remember seeing quite that many before. All good.

Marzi and Josh Paris have byes, so Luke Oakley should have a WC. Not sure who the other is.

As the draw is on the ITF site now, not convinced we will get many through.

There are some decentish Americans who have appeared out of nowhere..... and the Swedish contingent.... qualifying is not easy.....

Obviously hoping that Luke O has got that wildcard (as opposed to being tired/injured) - it would be nice

Alex also had a bye, like two of the other possibles, so not him.

Very pleased to see Robbie R there - who wasn't on the list. Was wondering where he'd been. Wish him luck - him and Marzi are together in, probably, the easiest 'Brit' draw bit.

Josh Sapwell and Rob Carter are also on the Q list but not in the draw - there may be a wildcard there.

Three nice wins:

Jonny Gray beat the ex-top 1000 Norwegian.

And George Davies beat the Anglicised and ranked Bulgarian, Anguelov

Which guarantees a Brit qualifier amongst the top 4

16 year-old Jack Molloy also won in two.

And clear-cut two-set wins for:

Ryan over Kyle Fellows

Jamie Prad. over Damian Rodriguez

Samuel Ferguson over Harvey Shackleton

just to say, yet again, that I don't see any other ITF doing two matches in one day.

I really don't know why they do it in the UK

It's a huge advantage to those with a Bye in R1.

No one else sees the need .....

I was told that by starting on a Sunday, or even a Monday sometimes with the women, it means that there can't be any SEs.  Thus 2 will be bumped up from the Q draw allowing for 2 extra on-site players (almost certainly Brits) to sign in for qualifying.  Not 100% sure if the rules would still work this way.

I rather think some extra events would be hugely higher up the Brits wishlist than possibly squeezing two more, by definition, very lowly ranked / probably unranked Brits into qualifying, and playing twice in a day

I have heard it said that it saves a night's accomodation. Hmm ...
