Tanysha might be younger than her opponent.  I haven't seen her for a couple of years on the junior circuit here and she can't have been much more than 10 or 11 when I did see her.  Very slight build but hit a good ball.  Sticks in my mind because there was always massive dramas and arguments whenever she took to the court!!

I've not been aware of her but yes she is just 14, dob 07/10/2001. Googling, it appears she had a dedicated website, tanysha.co.uk when aged 11. It is no longer operational though.

From what I can see on the LTA site Tanysha seems to be based in Spain playing in Junior events (U14 and U16) - so Palmanova is a reasonable choice to test the waters. She is on gofundme.com/766577d4 .

Miss Sutar seems to be based in the UK - but is playing in Spain presumably because of the lack of accessable UK 10ks.

Crystal Sutar did a crowdfunding thingy to go to one of the Spanish academies for 6 weeks, in January.

This tournament must be part of that plan.

That looks a very encouraging performance from Tanysha.

A quick look at Noel's results suggests that she has earned her 7 ranking points to date and has been competitive in other decent match-ups.

Mandy is the top seed and defending champ here (*), but has managed to draw a former top 100 player in R1!

L32: (1) Amanda Carreras WR 321 v Valeria Savinykh (RUS) WR 682 (CH 99 in 2012)
L32: (WC) Ceire Mullins UNR v Camelia-Elena Hristea (ROU) WR 778 (CH 579 in 2011)
L32: Gabriella Taylor WR 698 v Alice Bacquie (FRA) WR 729 (CH 631 last Jun)

(*) In fact, these tournaments are slightly out of sync this year, but given that Amanda won both Palmanova 1 (which was held a week earlier last year) and Palmanova 2 (which was held in the corresponding week to this week in 2015), I think it's fair to call her the defending champ! Obviously that also means 24 points (almost 1/5th of her total) due off the next two Mondays, so she could do with a good run here.

In singles, Gabi could potentially face our former Izzy in R2.

Doubles
R1: Carreras/Savoretti (GBR/ITA) [2] vs. Canero-Perez/Hristea (ESP/ROU)

Izzy's doing her best to make this happen - already a set up against the 2nd seed.
