Plenty of opportunities to pick up points for the men given the numerous 10Ks on offer
As for the women, I thought the ITF were supposed to sort out the spread of events. If you look at the 25K+ events not one in Europe starting 29/02 until a 50K on 28/03
I'm hoping Evo will have a crack at qualies here (IW), but he doesn't seem to be on the list of alternates that was posted on MTF. What is the entry deadline for qualifying for main tour events these days? With $10k (and the opportunity for lots more) for beating two players ranked outside the top 100 on his favourite surface, he must be considering it.
Hopefully it is just that she does not want to use her PR for 2 events and chose Indian Wells as the one better suited to her game at the moment. I must admit I always think the worst when she skips a tournament but I am going to try and be positive until I hear otherwise.
According to women's tennis forum, Laura has not entered Miami. So I think that her full fitness to contest IW may be in doubt? A bad augury?
She can only use her special ranking (the men use the term protected ranking) for 2 Premier Mandatory events (I just read the relevant bit in the rule-book) so having chosen Indian Wells as one, she then had a choice of either Miami or Madrid. I guess she has a far better chance of a wildcard, either main draw or qualifying, at Miami given her training base and agents, than Madrid, hence her choice.
Naomi seeded in qualifying for Indian Wells. Could do with a few more points to give her a chance of being one of the top 12 seeds, thus giving her a slightly better chance of qualifying.

Katie Swan is using one of her JE for the Mexico 25K.
I think that is a wise decision to utilise now, before she gets in as a direct entry. Don't forget she will get wildcards for the grass court season and by that time I expect her ranking to be close to direct entry for 25K's

Evo is on the qualifying list for Indian Wells, as is Kyle.
The problem is that qualifying starts on the Tuesday and one, or even both of them, will likely still be in Birmingham for the Davis Cup on Sunday. While the journey can be done to say it is less than ideal is a massive understatement.

Is it me or are there less tournaments to enter? All this week's tournaments seem to be loaded and I'm not sure the ITF have done a very good job of regionalising the women's challengers...
It's always rubbish for the women this time of year, never really get a good spread of tournaments till about April time. Not sure why this should be the case.
tables updated after withdrawals for ITF. Plenty of men, not so many women
Bambo cannot even get into Canada 25K direct with a ranking under 500
It seems flights are now available for Egypt, so we are seeing more GB entries - nice to see the LTA have submitted a new national ranking, so Katie B jumps up the acceptance list until she gets that third counter.
