Not bad overall, and given we first knew Aljaz had a seed, not too bad a one.

Hopefully some revenge from Aljaz on Kyle's behalf for last year.

And D-Day for Damir Dzumhur.......wink

If Evo can make it through by beating Fratangelo, the qualifier spots are

Vesely
Andujar
Estrellar Burgos
Krajicek
Q v Q
Haase
Kuznetsov
Monfils (23)
Q v Q
Gimeno Traver
Sock (25)
Q v Q
Ferrer (8)
Lopez (18)

17 places in total as there will be at least 1 LL in the MD.

Some very decent options there for the qualifiers.

Great draws for both, Johnson lost easily to Matt Barton last time he played... Bring the noise!

Brian B is an American player who has had the most awful injury history - I think at least 5 operations on different parts of his body.  Was out for 2 or 3 years and came back in 2011 and got to 50 something in the ranking and beat some really big names from nowhere.  Got injured again.  Came back a couple of years later, made a good start and got injured again.  Is he in as a WC?  I could see tournament organisers being sympathetic to him.

He is using a Protected Ranking(56) from two and a half years ago. Think he's giving it one last go. Last palyed in the US open in 2013 apart from reiring in Q1 of the Long Beach 25k futures.

Yes, looks tough but there are positives. The first being that Lopez lost his only other match this year against a guy WR75 who Kyle then went on to beat. The second being that should he get through this, he'll play either Darcis or Pella. And that's a pretty good round 2.

C'mon Dan!

smile that he got in there

cry about the draw.

Not saying Evo doesn't have a chance. Lopez lost to Muñoz de la Nava in Doha (who was later beaten by Kyle) and with Evo, anything can happen. But the draw could have been a lot kinder, especially as Fratangelo got the LL spot and ended up playing (Q) Stephane Robert WR 214

I think that might be the worst draw for me, Ferrer is not the same player he was I would have fancied Dan even against him. Of the other seeds Sock is injured, Monfils hasn't played and he could have drawn 13 unseeded players which include fellow qualifiers and a number of clay court courters. So for me that's a very unlucky draw. Dan will have to hit over his backhand to pass Lopez.

Kyle is first up at midnight, streams for all courts so all good.

Yep, tough draw.

Dan I think is now at a level where this is his natural habitat he so will now get some draws against really top players. Much though I would have liked to have seen him get an easier run, in reality in order to progress he is going to have to get used to looking at all the tape available on Lopez and hunkering down to working out a way to beat him.

Great shame considering the multiple other ways the draw could have panned out.
