I did a double-take when I saw the size of the purse - & double-checked in case it was a typo!  Don't think I've ever seen a Futures event worth that much!

Futures 15Ks have been replaced this year by 25Ks.

I believe that next year men's & women's 10Ks become 15Ks so both then will have 25Ks and 15Ks.

Yes, a good win indeed with which to start the year. Well done, Mr Corrie. Doubles pairing is more ex-university players, I think, so not to be underestimated.

L32:  Ed Corrie WR 453 defeated Ernesto Escobedo (USA) WR 393 by 7-6(3) 7-5  biggrin

****

L16:  Ed Corrie WR 453 vs (PR) Dennis Nevolo (USA) WR 621 (CH = 345 in October 2014)

Nevolo put out the Colombian second seed, Nicolás Barrientos (WR 294), in straight sets & will no doubt be dangerous.

The points structure is exactly the same as the 15ks from last year.  It is just the level of prize money that has increased.

The person who tweets about US university tennis has done a version of the draw for this tournament that shows which are the university (past, current, and future) players. Quite interesting: there are a lot of them: pbs.twimg.com/media/CX6oa83UAAA6Mfu.png

Good to see and thanks for the information genuinely interesting and predictably plenty of PAC 12 representation. My heart sinks a bit when you see some of the graduation dates against rankings but playing tennis in Jan in LA can't be too much of a hardship.

paradoxically this tournament is most interesting because of the too good for College boys.... Should be a really interesting week.

L32:  Joe Salisbury WR 646 defeated (Q) Shahin Khaledan (IRI) WR 1003 by 3 & 4

FIVE service breaks in that second set!  Luckily, Joe chose the tenth game to hold his!!!

*****

L16:  Clay Thompson (USA) WR 468 (CH = 465 last month) vs Joe Salisbury WR 646

Thompson put out the fifth seed, Eric Quigley, in the first round, so it could've been worse...
