We are seeded to get a qualifier through at the bottom of the draw, with Beth being 8th seed, and the Mexican player 12th seed. Serena Nash is also in that little section so a good chance for Britain there.
Difficult to see where it's going to come from otherwise. But we love surprises !
A big career best scalp of University of Bath student Emma Hurst, who comes from a set down and *1-4 down in the 3rd to upset 8th Q seed (and only Brit seeded to qualify) Beth Askew, 495 places above her, 4-6 6-3 7-5!
Sabrina lost the battle between two players on losing streaks to 9th Q seed Smith (USA) 3 & 1
Serena was edged out by 12th Q seed León (MEX) in two tiebreaks, 7-6(4) 7-6(4)
Ellie-Rose was double-bagelled by 3rd Q seed Barbat (DEN)
Savannah has taken the 1st set v Emily 7-5 and is a break up in the 2nd

How else are the girls supposed to get a go at this level if lta dont give wildcards....
I'm not saying don't give them wildcards, but most the girls at way out of their depth playing 25K qualifying. The LTA should and will be putting on more 10K next year to help out these girls where they have a better chance of being competitive and getting on to the ladder
I know you have a vested interest, but the lack of depth within the 200-700 range is terrible and some of these are not even supporting their home tournaments due to injury or incorrect surface or wanting to play overseas.
I'm sure Freya, Lisa and Emily W will all get main draw wildcards again next week if they haven't used their allocation, but there are only 4 or 5 other ranked players on the entry list next week.
Lovely to see the results from Holly and Mollie (now that's got legs for puns on words......)
And completely agree with the comments above (and made before) about the farce and waste of money of organising tournaments SO clearly at the wrong level for the majority of our players. Hopefully young players like Mollie and Holly, though, (and others, Serena, et al), will reap the benefit of the experience of these events next year, even if they don't end up with much net tangible benefit this time round (although here's hoping they go far, of course )
