Top 500

Flourishing on the ATP side of things. Hamish just now making the the QFs in Glasgow puts him live at 487 and now 23 in the top 500.

Should easily get to 25 with Jake Fearnley, Henry Searle and Stuart Parker closing in.

It's wonderful to see how the floodgates seem to have opened since Oliver Crawford's change of allegiance.  However, sadly it's not all one way traffic as Alastair Grey is in danger of dropping out unless he finds a way to pick some points PDQ

From memory, Ali G has a few points to defend in Feb, but then very little until the 2nd half of the season. So if he drops out, it will only be short term.  Had it not been for his recent injury, he would be well on his way back up the rankings by now.

Alastair Gray has 16 off for the rest of this month but only 17 off for the next 3 months after that

That's what I'm seeing, Bob. (I had the ATP site open and set to show GBR players anyway because I was checking Charlie Robertson's ranking for his entry in PoM.)

Yes, at 19/02 :

#21, ATP 468, Anton M  90 points
#22, ATP 476, Alastair G  87 points
#23, ATP 487, Hamish S  84 points

#24, ATP 514, Jacob F  76 points
#25, ATP 574, Harry W  62 points

Ali G has 16 points to drop this week so will fall out of the top 500 on 26/02, on 71 points.

I cant recall where we kept a note of the battle for 10 in top 250 or 20 in the top 500, did it ever have a home, as such? Anyway, just realised that Arthur Fery as the 10th man is at 262 this week, and Jake Fearnley is 23rd man is at 502. Both therefore quite close to the respective barriers and, in the case of Arthur, to moving is to 10 in the top 250. Anyone know if Arthur or Jake will have a chance to gain ranking points in the near future, post their college duties?

Jon - it is in this thread.

The top 500 is done and dusted, top 250 is still open.

Arthur is not at college and was injured in Thailand and is yet to return.

Jake is in his final year and unless he does a masters should be full time from the summer

Sorry I realise the top 500 is done and dusted. and top 250 is still open. Was just musing on status of those around the fringes. Forgot Arthur was injured and not in college still, thanks for clarifying .

Re the men's top 500, WR 500 points have been dropping recently and Jake, GB #23, is now indeed live ranked 502 with 76 points and nothing to defend until 22/07. Dan Cox is dropping points post Miami but will still be in the top 500 on 80 points as GB #22.

For our women, with Emilie Lindh switching to Norway we will be down to 16 in the top 500, indeed 16 in the top 600, and Naiktha is in danger of dropping out of the top 500 post Miami. Our real youngsters have a bit to do yet but surely there will be top 500 additions coming from them before too long.

Further up wirh the men, it is good to see Arthur Fery back in action as the 4th seed in this week's France M25 and if he reaches the final that might be enough to get us to that elusive 10 in the top 250 ( the title would certainly do it ). He has a fair bit further time to get there too with nothing to defend until 10/06.

Dan Cox has slipped out of the top 500, now WR 501 on 80 points, taking us back down to 21 in the top 500. It looks like he will sneak back in again in the 15/04 rankings but he does have 17 points to drop on 06/05, and no sign of him playing just now, so he may soon more clearly drop out.

Re the top 250, Arthur Fery is through to R2 in the Busan Challenger and is now live ranked 255 on 224 points. It looks pretty certain that a R2 win would see him into the top 250, giving us the Jaggy 10 in the top 250 ( certainly would be better late than never ). He is though likely to have to face the #1 seed in that R2.
