Men's WR for w/c 09 May

In singles, Andy pops to the top of points gained for the month, thanks to winning a couple of rounds at Madrid.  Placing 3rd at the moment is Jack, but this is enough to get him even closer to a Top 100 ranking, albeit that it still leaves him ca 70 points from a Top100 place.  Going in the opposite direction in rankings (hopefully just momentarily) are JPJ, Ryan Storrie, Mark.  plus of course James Ward.

The number of GB players in singles Top500 stays stubbornly at 15.

In doubles, after 4 consecutive weeks of players dropping out of the Top100, the sequence is finally broken, with the number static at 5. Neal's success at Madrid gives him a commanding lead in points and allows him to eek out a small ranking between himself and Jamie as well as a new CH to boot.  But the most noticable change is Kyle's rather big drop as another of his old tournaments drops off.

The number of GB players in doubles Top500 stays at 23.

With the news about Kyle's further surgery it is unfortunately looking rather unlikely that Kyle will add any points before the 01/08 rankings when his 2019 Washington points dropping off will definitely leave him outside the top 500. He would have 68 points immediately before then so probably still inside the top 500.

With Jack PJ and Stuart Parker adding to our top 500 tally next Monday 16/05, taking us to 17 in all, I thought it would be interesting to see what points the contenders would have at 25/07 allowing for the points due to drop by then with no additions.

The headlines from this is Kyle would be GB #14 with his 68 points with 3 dropping out of the top 500 with nothing added - Stuart and Jack probably back out though still in the 60s in points and Stuart's 65 points could be borderline by then. The big drop out of the top 500 would come from Anton, down to 32 points.

Considering the top 250, I have not examined the current top 8. I hope and presume they will still be top 250 by then. Re the current next two outside the top 250, Alastair has little to drop but Aidan has a lot, leaving just Alastair looking a possible top 250 addition in the next few months.

Coming up the projected points for our current #9 to #21 at 25/07 with nothing added. No-one currently below #21 would have as many points then as these players.

Currently the WR 250 has 210 points and the WR 500 has 67 points. These points required could drop slightly over the coming months but should still be very much in that ballpark.

Projected GB rankings at 25/07 including all points to be added by 16/05 ( but not points from this week's Nottingham M25, with a few hopefully going to make decent progress ) minus all points due off by 25/07:

( I have put in brackets what their GB ranking position will be 16/05 and assumed that the current top 8 will still be ahead and also the number of counters coming off, Aidan having 11! )

9. (9) Alastair G: 165 - 6 (from 1 counter) = 159
10. (12) Billy H: 116 - 8, net 4 ( 4) = 112
11. (10) Aidan M: 157 - 60, net 51 (11) = 106
12. (14) Felix G: 88 - 13 (3) = 75
13. (15) Charles B: 74 - 1 (1) = 73
14. (11) Kyle E: 136 - 68 (2) = 68

15. (17) Stuart P: 69 - 4 (2) = 65
16. (16) Jack PJ: 70 - 8 (1) = 62

17. (20) Henry P: 53 - 0 = 53
18. (18) Jan C: 55 - 6 (2) = 49
19. (19) Dan C: 53 - 14 (2) = 39
20. (21) Harry W: 36 - 3 (2) = 33
21. (13) Anton M: 89 - 57 (4) = 32

Women's WR for w/c 9 May

So what with no rankings released last week, this is the first for May. In singles, Emma gets 100+ points on the board thanks to her efforts in Madrid.  Despite this she drops one place in the WR. In fact all top 4 players drop in rankings, but with Heather slipping less than Harriet, she claims back GB#2. The biggest upward mover in ranking for the month so far is Eden, who's successes in Nottingham lift her 84 places into the Top400.  Talia and Jasmine continue to pile on the ranking gains, both cracking the Top800 for the first time. Biggest droppers this week are Naomi and Katy Dunne. Heather also sheds some more points/rankings.

Like the men, the total number of GB players in singles Top500 stays stubbornly at 15 for another week.

In doubles, Sam joins Tara in the Top100 club ,which i think makes it the first time in 3 year that there have been 2 women in the Top100.  Nadia makes a massive 340 place jump, with Lauryn not that further behind, with the latter breaking into the Top800.  Naomi does the double, and also makes the list of players dropping the most in doubles rankings.

Total number of GB players in doubles Top500 is also unchanged at 16.

Just for the record - we're now at 17 !!!
That's the first time we've been this high for ages..... (someone will know)
Also, quite nicely balanced - not particularly pyramid style - which is both good and bad.
With 7 CHs (and several who are very close), showing the 'in form-ness' of the group, and
5 who are Next Gen players
Only one 'non-player' (Kyle)

So as this is a non-reporting week, here's how the rankings stood a week ago, 23rd May, which was also the final reporting week in May.

So in singles in May the point gains were relatively 'slim'.  Andy finished the month top with +82 net gain. Ryan and Billy achieve their best monthly net points accumulation, getting places in the Top5 for the month.  In terms of rankings Brandon and Adam top the chart, but the big news for May was that Stuart and Jack PJ have broken into the Top 500.

The number of GB players in the Top500 is 17 (no change this week, +2 since two weeks ago).

In doubles, Neal had a stellar month for May, with his net total more than the rest of GB players combined. In terms of ranking gain, Ryan Golesworthy takes the honours for the month. Amongst the more notable moves over the last two weeks were Henry P and Julian cementing their places in the Top400 while further down around the 700 mark its Henry W and Oscar.  Recent big dippers are Liam and Luke.

The number of GB players in the Top500 is 22 (-1, Jay).

So before the next round of ratings come out, here's how things stood last week, for w/c 23rd May, the last reporting week in May.

In singles, Emma finished the month with the biggest net gain of points, although Sonay may have a claim to have a better month, with her +100 point gain which continued to propel her further up the rankings. Likewise Eden had a great month, with her net 68 points gaining her almost 100 WR positions. Going in the opposite direction were Katy Dunne, Emily W-S and Naomi all of who dropped out of the Top800 (and off the graph).

The number of GB Players in the Top500 stays at 15.

In doubles, Sam, Olivia and Alicia continued their good form in May, however with a late surge Emily finishes the month with the biggest net gain of points. Maia finishes 2nd for points and 2nd for WR gains, up an impressive 319 places. Nadia's 430 climb over the month takes her to just outside the Top800, but perhaps the happiest player of the month will be Sam who became a Top100 doubles player.

The number of GB players in the Top500 stays at 16.

The Top 500 men is still 17 in number - but only just - as Jack PJ drops to 500 exactly, and is hanging on by the skin of his teeth.....

Ah, the points needed for top 500 has crept up a bit. Unusual for it to be as high as 70.

Stuart Parker is going to drop 2 net points for next Monday so both he and JPJ will be on 70. Looks from live rankings that that will still be safe enough for top 500 for both for the time being.

Re GB #18, 19 and 20, Dan Cox's Nottingham qualification will so far have him join Jan on 55 points. Henry P will be remain on 54 points.

Then there will be another little gap to GB #21 Mark W who will be on 41 points, having had a good few weeks.

I suspect the 70 point threshold is due to the higher points available for the M25 and M15 winners being increased this year to 25 and 15 respectively from 20 and 10 so may well go up slightly higher as the year progresses.

Men's WR for w/c 06 Jun 2022

So in singles, Cam plonks himself at the top of the net points for June thanks to his couple of wins at RG.  Beyond that, the points are pretty evenly spread so far but with undoubtedly lots of WCs on offer in the coming weeks, there could be big point opportunities for many.  In terms of rankings, the top 8 are all remarkedly evenly spaced. Edward's 1 point shots him up 333 places, while Martin's 91 rise propels him into the Top700, with Giles hot on his heels.

The number of GB player in Singles Top500 remains at 17.

In doubles, there are lots of big points from RG, however what is perhaps more impressive are some noticable big moves in the WRs. Julian and Henry continue where they left off from in May and are joined by Jay, Dan and Billy as well as Giles who makes it into the Top800.

As a result, the number of GB players in the doubles Top500 jumps to 25(+3).

Women's WR for w/c 06 Jun 22

In singles, once again Emma finds herself up front when it comes to accumulating points, but hot on her heals is Anna thanks to her recent win in Tbilisi.  That 50 points propel her up more than 300 plances and on the cusp of the Top500.  The other big moves so far this month also belong to mid-ranking players.

The number of GB players in the singles Top500 is 16 (+1, Amanda).

In doubles, its a good start to month for GB players.  Of the 5, Jodie reaps the most rewards, jumping 78 places.  Currently in first place for ranking gains though is Sashi as a result of reaching a ITF final. The other notewothy event is Alicia becoming the latest player to reach the Top100. Having started the year with none, GB now have 3.

The number of GB players in the doubles Top500 in unchanged at 16.
