R32: Dan Evans WR 263 v Alexander Sarkissian (USA) WR 193 (CH = 184)
Both in the same quarter. A less than ideal draw for Mr Broady ... or an opportunity to do something extraordinary. Whoever wins that 1st round has a qualifier or Marek Michalicka in the 2nd round. Mr Evans more fortunate in the 1st round; winner of his match faces Evan Song or Dennis Novikov. Somewhat bizarrely all four of the Fairfield Challenger semifinalists are in the same quarter (2nd). Good to have avoided that one.

It appeared to me that in Liam's loss last week, having played a genuinely awful first set where he could barely put a ball in court, he really relaxed in the second and played some really good tennis (before his first serve abandoned him in the third), so hopefully facing top seed will allow him to relax and play with that kind of freedom again.
Dan Evans is due on court fairly shortly but it looks like his court (Court 2) might not be streamed, which would be a big pity.
Anyway, hope he can hit the ground running, I am one of the believers in new Dan, much ridiculed by older hands on this forum, but I believe... not that he'll win every game ever, but that he has turned a corner, hope this week lends weight to my theory.
Bit of a ding-dong battle between Laaksonen and Uchida going on in the match before Dan's so still waiting. That match currently on serve at 3-2 in the 3rd, come on lads get it done with.
