Emily continues to follow the advice of some to change the level of her tournaments in an err interesting way.

Hopefully also means she has possibly rather more relevantly a nice doubles entry here.

Yes and if she gets a soft singles draw in qualifying she will pick up a nice pay check and decent points.

Gutted. Really could have taken it but just missed way too many chances. She had two break points in the first game of the second set, and also led *2-0 40-15 in the third, but as soon as that service game slipped Kuwata wrestled control and just clung on.

When she beat Kuwata a couple of weeks ago it was worth a paltry two extra points. Today would have been an extra 9 with a good chance for mor.  Frustrating, but thats tennis.

Lots of points to defend until the year end now so a win today would have been a big help, but if she can get into the doubles and sneak a win it will still be a good week. The fact she's spent the whole of 2015 playing the biggest events she can get into suggests she's got more than half an eye on doubles.

Tough loss and shame to have drawn Kuwata again as there are many lower ranked players in the draw who have now scored wins over equally lower ranked players. Still I agree that it's good that she's gone after the big events this year, which has resulted in some tough periods in terms of singles results but has brought her towards the cusp of the top 100 in doubles.

Nice R1 draw on the face of it for 60 ranking points :)
Winners likely to face the 2nd seeds in the QFs
