This draw has fallen nicely for Kyle, Kyle knows King well, the victor due to play a qualifier and then Dreddy (assuming he can overcome Taylor Fritz who is a bit of an outlier as a WC). Brydan may get an early shot of revenging his defeat last week to Halys again Halys would have to beat the No 1 seed to make R2, a good test.
I like to keep an eye on the progress of Denis Novikov as marker of using the U.S. College system as a stepping stone to the main tour, his junior pedigree is better than almost all our boys that go (winning the USTA boys in 2012) and then dropping out of UCLA in his second year ranked about 450 in the world after loosing in the first round of the U.S. Open. This would strike me as the way to go if the main tour is ones aspirations I.e. Excel and go pro as close to turning 20 as possible.
All in all should be an interesting week, with a well balanced tournament.
Probably unrealistic for him to produce his best in this match, the main thing is for him to blow some of the cobwebs away that were evident against Brydan last week.

Kyle might be winning but this is a very average performance summed up by 2 second serve returns about 5 feet passed the baseline, one on BP.
Trailing 1-4 in the second set , unforced errors piling up, poor body language, poor attitude and a lack of concentration.

Knowing Kyle as I do, I don't think poor attitude is accurate. In truth, he looks totally devoid of energy more than anything. Very worrying and reminiscent of his last match.

One set all and Kyles game is falling to pieces. A woeful display in the second set and unless he pulls himself together quickly then he's going to be out of this tournament. Its not that King is playing well he's been poor but Kyle in the 2nd set has been atrocious.
