I realise that Alex is with his new team now, and that it's not easy when there's such a huge gap in rankings between the team members.
But he's playing so many 10ks with them - which makes sense for them but does it make sense for him? He's the top seed in most, having to play all week (in theory) and just for 10ks.
The Morocco challenger, for instance, is on clay, pretty close, not very strong - Alex would have had a great chance to do something.
From a points perspective, Mr Ward still has a lot of 0-3 point tournaments where a 10 or an 18 would come in handy. So I can see that. But it would indeed be good to see him getting some higher quality opposition on a regular basis.
I think its a good thing that he's doing it this way. It'll mean his ranking is more stable which will allow him to have a longer stint at challengers in the future!

Yeah, and i think it means he's more likely to get injured and have a shorter stint
I know you can argue it each way but, at 25, I think you've got to step up and, having worked his ranking back up, I'm surprised he doesn't seem to be trying some challengers too. But, hey, ... whatever works and 20/20 hindsight would be a great thing.....

Pure speculation here, but if having gone into a new training environment, they have changed some things about his game. If so, they may think that it is a good idea to bed those changes in by getting a lot of matches before testing himself at a higher level.
As you say, this can be argued both ways. Only time will tell.
