Pretty rare to see Josh playing doubles.

With a ranking of WR 1509, I'm amazed he even got a play.

Good luck to him, and young Quentin.

Dan C is on court and should be streamed - approaching tie break.

Dan played the far better tie-break - more aggressive and more entrepreneurial - with John-Patrick looking (as he often does) rather unimpressive considering his ranking.

Lots of SPs to JP, a couple to Dan - and Dan wins the TB 11.9

Dan saves at least 4 tie break set points (2 on Smith's serve) and takes the tie break 11-9. Vamos!

But a couple of nasty errors, under pressure, saves 2 BPs, back to deuce, another error (not so nasty but all the same) and he's broken straight off.

One break was all it needed. JP won the second set 6-3

Dan had an MTO - lower back it looked like.

Got broken in the first game of the third. Looked ominous.

But broke right back, and held. 2-1*

But it all went south from there. Dan lost 6-2 in the third.

Don't know if it's related to his back but his serve was pretty poor. You can't have a game like Dan's and then serve consistently at under 50% first serves.

Well done to the Anglo-Franco pair.

They get the top seeds next, but 15 points and a bit of cash is all good, whatever happens.
