Freya's match has just started.

It'll be interesting to see how these couple of weeks go.

The fields in Egypt are pretty poor (weaker than usual - surprised more aren't out there - the 15k men's event is feeble and points waiting to be given away).

Good chance for Freya to make some decent inroads and amass some points and wins.

However, she's drawn a good junior (on a par with Freya's best junior ranking) who's also made the final of a 10k a few weeks back.

Lots of breaks, with Kazionova winning a surprising amount of points off Christie's first serve. But Christie takes the set 6-4.

Freya lost the the second set. Overall practically equal on all stats.

And it was 4-4 in the third, with the last game going on for over 20 mins by my reckoning.

But Freya got it in the end, so now receiving for the match.

add: now 5-5

add: and into a tie-break....

Six straight points from 1-3 in the tie break. Good win.

lordy, that was close..... right up to 3-3 in the third set TB. When suddenly Freya put together 4 points and too the TB 7-3

And now onto the doubles - I think she's going to need some extra calories tonight.

Well done, Freya.

Her doubles partner has knocked out the top seed, and the 6th seed has withdrawn. I know seedings are a bit random at this level, but it does seem to be opening up a bit.

Freya and partner also won their doubles, 6-3 6-2.

They play an unseeded pair who got a walkover against the second seeds.
