Marcus Willis

And just to add to the Hollywood plot, Marcus has stated via Instagram account that he has popped the question and Jenny has said "Yes". Don't you just love a happy ending - or is that a happy beginning in this case.

Congratulations to both Marcus and Jenny.

yes, I was just going to come on here and say Marcus is in love, a very different state of mind to be in. So, I'm not surprised he's got engaged. Congratulations to both :)

Marcus is something of an enigma and well I guess anything is possible for him now. I hope he will play tennis competitively some of the time though because I like watching his play.

I did meet someone at Roehampton who said he'd met someone at the qualies who had sponsored Marcus for 2 years so I guess he meant Gary which made me think how important Gary's contribution to Marcus had been.

We are all linked together at some level. After watching Gabi at the qualies I had to rush off to meet my daughter and her partner for dinner at a place in Vauxhall. Amazingly the chef was an old friend whom I hadn't seen for nearly 20 years. Lots of hugs and kisses are around as it was so nice to see her. I just love it when things like that happen.

I can also report that Marcus is hoping to get back on court ASAP. He has a couple of injury niggles at the moment though.

Puzzled by Marcus' plans and has he really got married already or do they mean 'engaged'?

And the hits just keep on coming. Marcus is going to be a DAD !! He and Jenny announced today that Jenny is pregnant and the baby is due on the 12 March. Apparently it was conceived after the Berankis match. No wonder Marcus was injured for his match against Federer.

From the Beeb's rolling sports news page:

Marcus Willis to compete for his biggest payday yet...

Unlikely Wimbledon hero Marcus Willis will take on some of the biggest stars in tennis and have a chance to win $250,000 (almost £202,000) in a single night after being given the last spot in the "Tie Break Tens" contest in Vienna.

Willis, who won six matches to reach the main draw of Wimbledon and eventually went down to Roger Federer in round 2, joins Andy Murray, Dominic Thiem, Jo Wilfried Tsonga, Tommy Haas and Goran Ivanisevic.

"The opposition isn't very good, is it?" joked Willis.

"In a three-set match against guys like Andy Murray, Dominic Thiem and Jo Wilfried Tsonga I would be unlikely to win, but in Tie Break Tens in a first-to-10-point tie-break? I think I could win a 10-point tie-break against anyone".

The event takes place on October 23rd in Vienna.

That was a hernia.  According to an article by James Gheerbrant in today's Times, he didn't need an operation, but has required "therapy to realign his body - including wearing a mouthguard fitted by Jenny's best friend, a chiropractor, to straighten his wonky jaw"!  Sounds a bit grim.

He has a few choice words for tennis administration in this country, too.  The headline for the article is:  'It's a shambles how young players are managed in the UK'.  He reckons he's getting better as he gets older. wink

By the time he gets to my age, he should be quite good then. wink
