R1:  Lloyd Glasspool & Mikael Torpegaard (DEN) UNR (*) vs Oskari Kulta & Aleksi Tuukkanen (FIN/FIN) UNR

(*) Lloyd's current doubles ranking is 1485, while the Dane is currently unranked, but has a CH of 1477 from August 2013.  The Finns are both only 17 years old.

I'm excited about Lloyd. After a great performance in Dublin, it's good to see him picking up more points here this week.

Interesting - I assume he had to qualify because when registration for the tournament was finalised, his ranking wouldn't have given him a place in the MD, but his huge leap since making the Dublin has meant he outranked his DA opponent in R1.

No such luck in R2 though - the top seeded Finn:

R2: (Q) Lloyd Glasspool WR 909 vs (1) Micke Kontinen (FIN) WR 387

Not the draw that Lloyd probably would want, but be interesting to see how he does.

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I don't think Micke has even won his first round match yet, has he?

And he's playing the Junior WR 22, who got to the semis in junior Wimbledon a month or so back (although this is clay and he lost in RA of the French junior Open, though he lists clay as his favourite surface).

And Micke has played nothing but clay since Feb this year so, although his results aren't that stellar, they're all clay and pretty solid.

And Lloyd has barely ever played on clay (as far as I can see).

anyway, Micke might lose the first round match, Lloyd may well lose to either, all a mystery . . .

(I tend to bet against the Brit - that way I'm always happy - REALLY pleased is he wins, and pretty pleased if he loses coz I was right and so win). Sort of a hedge trade really . . .
