Dan is 3rd match on court 5, with play starting at 10.00 westcoast time. I don't think there is much chance of him starting before 1.00pm. West coast is 8 hrs behind (I think!) so perhaps we may have a stream to watch after supper tonight if they are streaming more than just the ctr court = here's hoping!
Whilst the unranked opposition may not have presented the sternest challenge, it is still pleasing to see Dan get the W. His door to door journey time from Birmingham to Aptos will have left little change from a full 24 hrs. Such long journeys with little recuperation time are seldom considered good preparation for anything at all, least of all for sports performance.
I couldn't find a stream from Aptos last night, it seems they are not covering qualies, not yet anyway. I'm on my hols in rural France and have only the slowest connection so it wouldn't have been watchable. I'll just have to wait until Friday when I'll be home, in time to watch Dan's QF!
Kyle's 1st round match is against a qualifier - I wonder if that could end up being Dan? In such an encounter, I'd have to support Dan because I feel sure that Kyle will spend many years in the top 100 whatever happens. And what is Dan's CH going to be? Now there is a question to which there will be some very different answers!
Agree the journey would need time to get over. But when did Dan travel ? Not coming from a previous tournament there is no reason to have had minimal recuperation / preparation time, not that I'm aware he did leave it late.
Anyway, hope he is well aclimatised and ready for that much tougher looking next match.
