I wonder why no other GB players have not had a go. Milts has withdrawn. Marcus was on the original list. I thought Evo might have turned up.

Yeah a shame that no one else has turned up. I also thought evo might have gone for qualies here. Instead it looks like he'll be reappearing in Egypt in a10k in a few weeks.

Shame about Milts he seems to be focused and giving it a real crack this year.

Evo is a home bird and I think he definitely finds it hard to be away for long stretches at a time, I have no idea what he is like as a personality but a general impression is that he is a pretty genuine sort of bloke with a tight group of friends that he really values, having watched him play a few times live, his mind is obviously in the game, a hell of a lot of nervous energy, he is still very much aware of his surroundings and often distracted for short periods of time, then having to refocus.

Egypt he probably knows well and maybe able to go with those close to him, making it a good use of his resources with a high likelihood of cleaning up. I don't think you can make excuses for him but he is such a talented player the challenge for him is probably managing his life and that nervous energy, putting himself in a good place to play tennis. Although not in the same league I honestly feel he has the tennis skill set to sit well inside the top 100 trending towards 50 but his challenge is he is very different intellectually and emotionally from the likes of Federer, Andy, Djokovic and that impacts on what he is able to do. In context that may make some of his unpredictability a bit more predictable.

Can't say I am surprised about Josh. He has played a lot of matches recently and been clocking up the miles. A week or two of R&R wouldn't go amiss.

Is Josh definitely not playing? Just he's ranked quite a bit higher than the q1 seed so I wondered if he made the main draw, though I don't know the entry positions.

Don't know for sure, but I was going from Paulisi's comment above where he says Milts has withdrawn.

When I looked on the tennis forum thread, his name was in red, suggesting he had withdrawn, so I assumed he was not in the main draw. The main draw is out and there are no Brits playing singles.

Yess !! a very tricky R1 draw overcome. Nice to see that the break from playing with each other had no material impact.
