The girls could do with picking up some points over the next few weeks, they have quite a few points to defend, especially if they want to make US Open directly.

They made the final here in 2014, so 180 points to defend.

They have 370 pts to defend this month 180 + 80 + 110 (including Washington).

After that, nothing till 60pts in Feb 16. Would be v nice if they could manage to get a couple of good results this month but, in the long term, not the end of the world. smile

Not entirely on-topic...

I do wish that Heather would compete more at this level.

So far this year, she has only played two WTA 200+k tournaments, where she should be seeded on her current ranking. She won Hobart, and lost in R1 in Prague.

By contrast, she's played every Grand Slam, obvs, and every Premier tournament for which she could get DA, competing as an unseeded player.

If she's to make it to the top 32 places in the rankings, and avoid seed-roulette at the GSs and Premiers, I think she should be playing more of these, accumulating points on the back of easier matches as a seeded player.

Their current top 3 non counters are 60, 48 and 12 totalling 120, so the maximum points they can drop net is 250 ( 370 - 120 )

That is a bit of a shocker. Hopefully just a random one-off bad day, but not great timing as (if I have got this correct) this is the last week for points towards US Open qualification.

Oh dear. That's so unexpected one rather wonders what the story behind it is.

Shocker indeed.

Re the entry list cut-off I believe it's rather later for doubles, but I'm not sure precisely when.

Josanna are at a CH of WR 69, but will drop a net 120 points this week ( 180 - 60 ).
