Beating the fourth seed here will get Mirabelle (who turned 18 a couple of months ago) into the top 1000, about WR 950.

And the 7th seed was knocked out by Cengiz, who also scraped her next match, leaving Mirabelle to play 15 year-old local girl, Cengiz (TUR), WR 944 and junior ITF WR 100, in the quarters

Great win for Mirabelle. Looks like her training block work is slowly kicking in based on info gathered from Barnstaple appearance.

She has to maintain her focus with next opponent. Juniors are notoriously very tricky "customers" to play.  "You make the play and they feed on it."

She's been playing League tennis during the whole of May (and winning easily) so it hasn't been a classic training block.

But her whole year seems nicely planned, as a follow-on from last one - she's got a path and she's following it, with a good club behind her.

And technically she still's a junior herself, so Cengiz might be saying the same re trickiness .... :)

Thanks for further info CD. From what I hear, she is an aggressive offensive player.

Yes, I believe so - haven't seen her play live for a long time but caught some livestream last year and it hasn't changed.

I know one of the UK coaches, though, said she was very tricky to play because she's unpredictable, rushes the net when you wouldn't expect it, goes for clean winner off back off the court balls - certainly sprays a lot of the balls all over the place, from what I can remember, but that's part of the process.

Never heard of the Turkish girl so it'll be interesting; with a vocal home crowd behind her, I imagine, it'll be some match :)
