A new name in the doubles (no, not Alex's ):

R1:

Oscar MESQUIDA BERG (ESP) / Bernabe ZAPATA MIRALLES (ESP) 6-1 6-1 Jordi MARSE-VIDRI (ESP) / Raamin SOLLAND (GBR) (?)

Tommy PAUL (USA) / Alexander WARD (GBR) 2-6 7-5 [10-6] Alexander MERINO (PER) / Goncalo OLIVEIRA (POR) [4]

Unfortunately, the strong junior was just too strong for Aswin:

Given that he apparently supports QPR ( here ), it would seem that the answer to that one is "yes"! wink

I wasn't disputing his existence. Or his being British. It was just: who is the man ???? Had anyone every heard of him as  tennis player? Which him supporting QPR doesn't help much with  . . .

Alex broke straight back and is about to lose again. It's not been a good year so far.

I find it very interesting / strange and currently a bit frustrating how many of the quite heralded 1990 born group seemed to promise so much early on, then seemed to largely plateau or indeed drop down the rankings, then came through quite significantly a year or so ago, taking out CHs, and then again have comparatively struggled more recently.

Is there some sort of strange group dynamic going on here even although they have gone off in various directions?

The three Dans, Evans, Cox and Smethurst, Marcus and Alex all have their CHs from just last year. However, Marcus, Dan Cox and Alex are currently from 86 to 102 places back from their CHs with Dan Smethurst and Evo much more than that.

Now there are clearly some known individual circumstances here, but ... ??
