Week 18 - Challenger (€64,000+H) - Aix-en-Provence, France - red clay (doubles)

Ken & Neal return to Europe & it seems they still can't win - not literally, I sincerely hope!

R1:  (1) Robin Haase & Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi (NED/PAK) CR 88 (40+48) vs Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 251 (126+125)  bleh  disbelief
R1:  (3) Colin Fleming & Jonny Marray CR 138 (76+62) vs (WC) Mathias Bourgue & David Guez (FRA/FRA) CR 1790 (1272+518)

Looks like a decent draw for Colin & Jonny, though.  Both pairs are in the top half of the draw.

That's six first round defeats in a row for the Skupski's and they have only won two matches all year, 1 at ATP level the other at challenger.

I think you will find that Jaziri is Tunisian.

Gutted for them. They have had some tough draws and most of those losses have gone to MTBs.

Their luck has to change soon...as Bob says they have had some rotten draws, and MTBs often hang on such narrow margins. Got everything crossed for them for future matches!

MTBs often have a lot to do wifh confidence and mindset. With each loss, in particular each MTB lost, it looks as if this may be eroding.

They really need a good win asap. Come on, guys.

It seems they may finally be starting to string together a few wins:

QF:  (3) Colin Fleming & Jonny Marray CR 138 (76+62) defeated Malek Jaziri & Philipp Petzschner (TUN/GER) CR 397 (282+115) by 4-6 6-3 [10-7]

They trailed for most of the MTB, too!

Now for revenge for the Skupskis!

SF:  (1) Robin Haase & Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi (NED/PAK) CR 86 (39+47) vs (3) Colin Fleming & Jonny Marray CR 138 (76+62)
