******

QF:  Arturo Torregrossa & José Facundo (I assume!) Vidal (ESP/ESP) UNR vs (3) José Checa (ESP) & Marcus Willis CR 1196 (843+353)

Marcus served for it at 5-4 but ended up in a TB. Which he scraped 7-5.

Second set (hopefully) will be easier.

Looks like it has been easier. 5-0* up at the moment.

Hope I haven't spoken too soon. Back to 5-2* now. Vamos Marcus. Finish him off please.

What is going on ? Back on serve at 5-4* now.

I should learn to keep my big mouth shut.

I suspect the winner will play the American qualifier rather than the seeded Bolivian clay courter. The young American has a few decent scalps on his CV and very respectable scorelines against good players.

Marcus had 2 MPs in that last game but the Spaniard held on. *5-5

After an easy hold, Marcus forces 3 more MPs and finally takes the 3rd one to win 7-6(5) 7-5. Phew.

Marcus won 7-6 7-5, but must have had half a dozen or more match points at one stage or another.

As I posted above, he should get through the next round fairly easily, but the semi final and finals look a bit tougher.

Next one is the important one.  If he wins I will be there for the semi and (let's think positively here) the final.

Marcus may be struggling to get over the line in his matches, but his sense of humour is on top form. Here are a couple of tweets.

Got the win 76 75. 50 up in second, fancied some extra court time. Didn't choke at all. Honest.

Probably going to only have shakes or soup for the rest of the day. Probably choke on that still
