Week 15 - Challenger (€100,000) Sarasota, USA (Green Clay)

QR1: (1) Liam Broady WR 178 v Andrea Collarini (ARG) WR 450 (CH 186 June 2014)

QR1: (7) Alex Ward WR 326 v Takanyi Garanganga (ZIM) WR 379 (CH 288 Sept 2014)

On paper, Liam's could be a very tough match with a player who has been as high as WR186 and coming from Argentina will have been brought up on clay. Having said that Collarini has barely won a match this year. It looks lke he is coming back from injury as there was a long period of inactivity at the back end of last year.

Play starts at 3pm UK time. Liam is 2nd match on today on Court 1 whilst Alex is 4th match on one of the outside courts.

Liam's court is down for streaming at some stage but probably not until the MD.

Hoping that means Liam has been bumped up into the MD.

That would be nice; Broady makes the MD and leaves a 1st Q seed position for Luke.

Liam is named as a 'withdrawal' on the bottom of the qualifying draw sheet

Pity about Luke but that was a tough ask for him. Good news about Liam though.

L32: Liam Broady WR 178 v (4) Alejandro Gonzalez WR 100 (CH 70 June 2014

Draw could have been a bit more favourable though

Ah good about Liam. I had wondered whether 'withdrawal' might still be withdrawal from the qualifying draw into the main draw.

The ITF sometimes don't go out of their way to clarify such things.

Nice to see Luke travelling and getting a chance to train under Hilts again.

Alex played Mischa Zverev, as ALT.

Alex won the first set easily 6-1. And then lost the next two . . . 1-6 3-6

Miserable . . .

A rematch of the QR1 in Marseille. At least Alex took a set this time.
